The Trek of the Tepuis, ascent of Mount Roraima

MOUNT RORAIMA

Arrival to Manaus, reception and transfer to your hotel. Free day.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the internal flight to Boa Vista. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Night’s accommodation at the hotel.

After breakfast, briefing at the hotel and then inspection of the expedition equipment before a detailed explanation of the itinerary. Night’s accommodation at the hotel.

After breakfast, departure from Boa Vista by car at 5AM in the direction of Santa Elena de Uairén (Venezuela) where we arrive at around 9AM. Rest before change of vehicles, and then head towards Paraitepuy, where we will arrive at around 1PM. Distribution of equipment and start of the trek. This first hiking day takes us to the camp of Rio Tek / Rio Kukenan. All meals included. Bivouac Trekking time – 10 miles – 5 hours of actual walking.

At around 8AM, we will head towards the base of Mount Roraima. The distance is not far but more arduous than the previous day. We will arrive clsoe to the area where we will set up camp at around 2PM. Lunch. Afternoon free. We can take advantage of this free time to bathe in the cold waters, walk around the area or prepare for the next day. All meals included. Bivouac. Trekking time – 6 miles – 4 to 5 hours of actual walking

Today we will leave camp at around 8AM for the day that leads us to the very summit. This is one of the most interesting parts of the trek with stunning scenery, fabulous flora (orchids) and countless bird species. We pass along brooks and waterfalls before arriving at the summit at approximately 2PM. Afternoon open to enjoy the scenery. All meals included. Bivouac. Trekking time – 3 miles – 4 to 5 hours actual walking

At approximately 8AM, we start our descent to Vales dos Cristais / El Fosso and Ponto Triplo, this will take about 4 hours getting there and 3½ hours coming back. We will return to camp in the late afternoon. All meals included. Bivouac. Trekking time – 7 to 8 hours actual walking

After breakfast, we take the camp down and start our return itinerary arriving at the camp of RioTek in the middle of the afternoon. Free evening, All meals included. Bivouac. Trekking time – 6 hours of actual walking

This is the last day of the trek. After breakfast we continue our hike and after a one-hour pause for lunch we head for Santa Elena before returning to Boa Vista at around 8PM. Transfer to your hotel. Trekking time – 10 miles – 4 hours of actual walking.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the return flight to Manaus, and onward connecting flight home.
